General Information
How do eco-friendly toilet blocks work?
The way they work is simple. Rather than having to squeeze cleaner around the edge of the seat, our toilet blocks work each time you flush. They sit inside your cistern, gradually dissolve over the space of two to three weeks, and help keep your loo fresh and sparkling, leaving a subtle blue-hue in the water to let you know they’re working. Once the water is flushing clear again, it’s time to pop in a new one. You’ll still need a bit of elbow grease now and again to scrub the bowl down, but you’ll be using something without harsh chemicals like bleach, chlorine, phthalates, and ammonia, keeping things looking great, all without costing the environment. In fact, they’re even safe for your grey water system.
Are natural bathroom cleaners as effective as chemical ones?
They certainly are! Our universal cleaner really lives up to its name, and can be used on just about every surface - including all the ones you find in the bathroom, like glass, tile, and stainless steel. If you’re cleaning toothpaste marks off the mirror, you can’t go wrong with our glass cloth and a bit of water for streak-free, sparkling results.
When it comes to our toilet blocks, due to the fact they work consistently, they’ll be working their magic day in, day out, until they’re all dissolved and you need a fresh one. Instead of ingredients that are damaging to your plumbing and the environment, they use anionic and non-ionic surfactants that help break down stains, and because they sit in your cistern, your bog bowl gets a healthy rinse every time you flush.
What’s the best way to keep my bathroom hygienic without harsh chemicals?
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be using potent chemicals and antibacterial cleaners on every surface to keep things clean. For the more grubby areas, all you’ll need to do is spray on a bit of extra universal cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes, and the soapy agents in our formulation will do their job. Then, use a washable cloth to wipe everything down and you’re good to go.
Are toilet blocks safe for septic tanks and plumbing?
Yes. Every product we formulate was made with the environment front and centre of our minds, meaning that even if you have a grey water system, a self-contained septic tank, or old and more delicate plumbing, our products are for you. They’ll help get things clean with less effort, without the noxious-smelling fumes of conventional cleaners, and do their bit for the environment (both in their design, and with how minimally they’re packaged).
How do refillable bathroom products help reduce plastic waste?
When you order a starter kit from Skipper, whether that’s for the bathroom, kitchen, or laundry, you’ll get some nifty little humidity-proof tins. They not only serve to keep your cleaning products fresh for longer, but they’re made to be refilled for life. No more plastic bottles or wrappers, instead, when you order your refills, they’ll be delivered in paper bags and in some cases with compostable wrappers. They’re more affordable per use, and do their bit to keep the planet that little bit cleaner, too.
