Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best type of hand soap to use?
The best type of hand soap is one that effectively cleans while also moisturises your skin. Skipper’s hand wash uses surfactants to remove dirt without drying out your hands. For a more hygienic choice, especially when sharing with others, soap from a dispenser is preferable to bar soap, which typically has a higher pH and can strip your hands. Skipper soap, is actually "soap-free," and provides a perfect balance by leaving your hands feeling properly clean as well as soft and moisturised.
What is the benefit of a foaming soap compared to gel?
We've developed a foaming product that performs just as well as premium gel soaps. It's gentle on the skin, moisturising, and a highly effective cleanser. One of the reasons we choose to create foaming products is their ability to moderate consumption. Each pump mixes the soap solution with air to create a lovely foam, using fewer active ingredients than traditional gels. This makes them more affordable too! Foaming soap also lathers up quickly and rinses off easily, saving you both time and water.
How does it work?
In three easy steps you'll have a full bottle of foaming hand wash:
1. Fill the dispenser with warm water from the tap.
2. Drop in a refill tablet.
3. Leave the pump off while it dissolves, typically about an hour.
That's it! Enjoy a luxurious, moisturising hand wash.
Each refill provides approximately 150 pumps of hand wash and on average, lasts a month per dispenser. It will function just like any foaming soap you’re used to… that is, if you’re used to stunning scents, silky lather and stylish dispensers.
What hand soap kills the most germs?
When it comes to removing germs, plain hand wash is actually recommended over antibacterial hand wash. Why? Antibacterial soaps often contain chemicals like triclosan, which have not been proven safe for human exposure long-term.
The top regulators globally (including the AU, US, EU and UK governments) all advocate that regular soap is equally as effective as antibacterial soap for removing germs and maintaining hand hygeine, as regular soap (like ours) contains surfactants, which easily lift and wash away germs & bacteria under running water. This recommendation was even made to the public during the 2020 pandemic to educate on hand hygeine best practice.
Long story short, if you're washing your hands for the recommended 20 seconds with regular soap, you're doing it right.
Is hand soap good for sensitive skin?
Yes, hand soap can be good for sensitive skin, especially if it has a gentle formulation containing mild surfactants that effectively clean without stripping the skin's natural oils. On the hunt for sensitive skin hand wash? Check the ingredients for moisturising components like aloe vera, added specifically to keep the skin hydrated. Additionally, fragrance-free options are ideal as they avoid artificial fragrances and dyes that may irritate sensitive the skin.
Luckily for you, Skipper’s hand wash is developed with sensitive skin in mind and comes in a fragrance-free option too.
