Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose Skipper laundry sheets over others?
Skipper’s laundry sheets are the largest and most effective in the market (at least 50% larger than other sheets) which is a result of extensive research and product testing to ensure you only ever have to use 1 sheet to get a truly effective clean.
We have added enzymes for improved stain removal and a special fragrance that leaves your clothes smelling fresh long after they've been washed. We are also the only company in the world that pairs innovative laundry sheets with a humidity-proof tin.
And of course, our sheets come in plastic-free biodegradable packaging with free shipping on refill-only orders too. Choosing Skipper laundry sheets really is a no-brainer.
How do laundry sheets work vs laundry liquid / powder?
The main advantage of laundry detergent sheets aside from the obvious environmental benefit of being a zero-waste alternative, is that they are much easier to use and less messy than powder and liquid detergents.
With Skipper, 1 sheet is the equivalent of 50g of powder or liquid detergent.
You simply place the sheet into the washing machine along with your clothes. For small loads, you can easily tear the sheet in half through the perforated seam to moderate your dosage.
Pro-tip for front loaders: We recommend placing the sheet in the bottom of the drum with your clothes on top, to ensure the sheet dissolves completely. Occasionally a sheet can become lodged in the glass door and not dissolve properly.
What ingredients are in your laundry sheets?
Maltodextrin, nonionic & anionic surfactants, polyvinyl alcohol, soapnut saponin, sodium citrate, sodium bicarbonate, proteinase, parfum*
* The unscented option does not include parfum.
Are your laundry sheets septic and greywater safe?
Yes, our laundry sheets are considered septic and grey water safe, including for use with enviro septic systems. In fact, all our products are septic and grey water-safe.
Our ingredients are reviewed internally for known hazards to our environment, waterways, longevity of septic systems (harsher chemicals can wear components) and of course, exposure to humans and pets at home.
Do your laundry sheets contain plastic / PVA?
One of the ingredients used in our sheets, PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol) is a water-soluble synthetic polymer, and is water-soluble plastic. PVA has been proven through decades of credible research to be completely biodegradable (no microplastics) and safe for humans and the environment. In-fact, it's commonly used across many industries impacting all of us, including vitamin capsules which are consumed by millions of people daily!
Early in 2024 there was recent debate about the use of PVA, caused by misinformation spread by a company who has a commercial interest in discrediting products containing PVA (specifically, laundry sheets and pods).
Read our blog here (5 minutes), to learn why we use PVA in three of our products (laundry sheets, dishwasher tablets, toilet blocks) and why the ingredient is highly regarded in the industry as safe.
Are laundry sheets suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, laundry sheets can be good for sensitive skin, as long as they are a gentle formulation designed with skin sensitivities in mind. Opting for a fragrance-free option can often reduce the risk of skin irritation too. Skipper’s laundry sheets are all formulated with skin sensitivities in mind, and come in a scented and unscented version, to cater to all preferences.
Can I use Skipper laundry sheets to wash woollens?
No, you should not use Skipper laundry sheets on your woollens. This is due to the stain-fighting enzymes within the sheets, which are not compatible with animal fibres such as wool.
Can I use Skipper laundry sheets to hand wash?
Yes, you sure can! We recommend using up to 1/2 a sheet, and dissolving with warm or cold water into a bucket or sink for hand washing.
Are laundry sheets compatible with all washing machines?
Yes, Skipper laundry sheets are compatible with all cycles, water temperatures and machines types. Simply place the sheet in the drum with your clothes, and run your preferred wash cycle as normal.
How much does it cost to refill?
Laundry sheets are an affordable laundry detergent alternative, coming in at 20c per small load of washing (or 39c for regular loads). Skipper sheets are also larger than any other sheet on the market, meaning you only ever need to use 1 sheet for a regular load.
Be wary of sheets sold by other companies online or in major supermarkets, which consider 1/2 sheet to be suitable for a regular load. This is a deceptive strategy, as a "pack of 60 loads" will only contain 30 sheets, and in our experience won't be suitable for more than 30 regular loads.
Refill packs for Skipper laundry sheets include a 30-pack ($14) and a 120-pack ($47). We currently have two fragrance options available: Orange Blossom, Lily & Pomelo and Unscented (contains no scent/parfum).
