There’s a new face in our dishwasher. Meet Jhyll Teplin.
You might recognise her as Ja’mie’s mum in Summer Heights High. But, around here, she’s the lady who spent seven hours among dirty plates for Skipper Naked Dish Tabs and somehow made the whole thing look fabulous.
Before we show you what happened there, we put her through a quick cycle of questions. She had a few thoughts, and we thought it would be a shame not to share.
The quick cycle with Jhyll Teplin
Q: What has absolutely no business getting dressed for the dishwasher?
"Dish tabs! We arrive naked, we leave naked. Why are they wearing little plastic outfits?"
Q: Are you a careful stacker, or does your dishwasher have to fend for itself?
"I start with a system. It lasts about two minutes… Then I sorta just chuck it all in and hope for the best."
Q: Finish this sentence. A dishwasher isn’t full until…
"…the last spoon has nowhere left to go. If there’s room for one more, it’s not full. Why waste a whole cycle on half a load?"
Q: If Ja’mie lived under your roof, would she do the dishes or deliver a performance review?
"A performance review, obviously. She’d take one look and say, 'This dishwasher is actually so basic. Five hours to wash one plate? That’s so embarrassing.' Then she’d say a few words I can’t repeat here and leave me to stack it. She’s banned from the kitchen."
Q: Dishes are on. Where can we find you?
"Curled up in bed, pretending I’m the kind of woman who has a butler. He can unpack it in the morning."
Q: What’s your one rule for a fabulous day?
"Stay healthy and laugh a lot. Ideally at something silly, like a grown woman’s head poking out of a dishwasher."
Q: What are we skipping without a second thought?
"Hate, judgement and all that negative nonsense. No one looks or feels good carrying all that around."
Q: And what should we all be skipping towards?
"A cleaner, kinder planet. Look at her 🌏, she’s fabulous! We’re not the only ones living here either, so it’d be rude not to take care of her."
Now, back to the dishwasher. We put Jhyll Teplin right between the dinner plates and last night's custard tart. It's an odd spot for a fabulous lady, but a very good spot to talk about dish tabs, especially Aussie-made ones.
The result? A short film with a very distinguished cast and some very dirty dishes.
